This dreadful farrago is a major stumble from director Michael Winterbottom after Welcome to Sarajevo. A psycho-erotic 'B' movie on a low budget, it has the lovely Rachel Weisz going full-frontal in a lost cause as the Hastings hairdresser whose boyfriend (Alessandro Nivola) returns on parole after eight years inside for the murder of her father. Also in on the sort-of-plot is a scrawny Slav immigrant youth who spies on, and tapes sexual intercourse where he can find it, including that of his sister, a local singer-prostitute. Other characters drift in and out to little effect and the story's only revelation isn't much of one. Slow and boring; the treatment is grungy and interest in these characters is noticeably lacking.
