You'll likely as not want to crash out of this alienating story from a director who seemingly doesn't like making anything if it isn't controversial.
This may work for Michael Douglas, but director David Cronenberg strikes out again with this thoroughly unpleasant film about people obsessed with sex who, thanks to a bizarre scientific researcher from a hospital, achieve new 'highs' through a fetish for car accidents and body injuries.
This in turn leads them to a group that likes to re-create famous automobile accidents, including those that ended the lives of James Dean and Jayne Mansfield.
As in most of the director's films, visceral details are as nasty as they come.
And the dialogue is often difficult to hear, not surprisingly as the actors seem most of the time to be speaking in whispers.
