Joseph Cross
Born: May 28 1986
Where: New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA
The actor has demonstrated a broad range from a grunt in the WWII drama Flags of Our Fathers to a babyfaced internet killer in Untraceable.
One of five siblings, Cross enjoyed a "pretty normal" upbringing and embarked on an acting career at a young age, appearing in the play Broadway Bound at Pelham High School.
As a child actor he made his small screen debut aged eleven in the TV series Northern Lights and went on to appear in the 1998 thriller Desperate Measure with Michael Keaton.
However, he landed his big break when director M Night Shyamalan personally sought him out in New Jersey for a lead role in the comedy Wide Awake.
TV work, including Smallville and Law & Order, followed with the odd film - the Michael Keaton comedy Jack Frost - to consolidate his reputation.
In 2006, director Clint Eastwood cast him alongside Ryan Philippe and Jamie Bell in the war drama Flags of our Fathers.
The same year he also played the emotionally battered Augusten Burroughs in Ryan Murphy's comedy drama Running With Scissors alongside Annette Bening and Ralph Fiennes.
Recent work includes the serial killer thriller Untraceable with Cross playing cyber ghoul Owen Reilly.
