This is a really oddball satire about a veteran senator, Jay Bulworth (Warren Beatty), who suffers a nervous breakdown after taking one bribe too many for political favours. With an election looming, disillusioned with his existence and suffering from sleep deprivation, he decides to take out a contract on his own life before scandal can ruin his family. Suddenly liberated, Bulworth hits the campaign trail, starts speaking his mind, telling the truth and finds that voters like what he has to say. Full of fabulous moments - such as the TV interview where Bulworth starts speaking in rhyming rap and the impromptu visit to a hip-hop club where he meets the beautiful Nina (Halle Berry) - this political satire will keep you on edge as Bulworth tries to call off his own assassination.
