This made-for-TV murder thriller, based on a true story, boasts some solid performances from its stars. A tough married policeman (Joe Penny) has an affair with a 16-year-old waitress (Brittany Murphy), who soon becomes pregnant. As a single parent, the girl then sets about raising the child, while eking out her existence by working in a store. But she is found shot in the head and the cop becomes the prime suspect. Not bad as TV thrillers go, and there are standout performances from Frederic Forrest, Teri Garr and Rutanya Alda, best-remembered as John Savage's loopy wife in The Deer Hunter.
