Kevin Sorbo, from TV's Hercules series, takes on a new heroic character, the warrior Kull, who suddenly finds himself a king in the land of Valusia in this action fantasy. He's no great shakes as an actor, but the role of mythical hunk fits him well enough. He is duped into taking a bride, the evil Akivasha (Tia Carrere) instead of his true love and stirs up the wrath of rival prince Taligaro (Thomas Ian Griffith). There are plenty of macho fight scenes accompanied by rock music and passable special effects, maybe to disguise the failings of the plot. Enjoyable hokum for sword-and-sorcery action fans.
