High-powered casting continually comes to the rescue of this intriguing but sometimes shakily plotted and hesitantly developed psychological thriller about a young Harvard graduate (William McNamara) working to destroy the struggling stockbroker (Donald Sutherland) who offers him a home and a job. Despite some clichés and obvious contrivances, a Hand That Rocks the Cradle-style story is fairly creepy and mostly diverting thanks to the chilling charm of McNamara, the dependable charisma of Sutherland and the solid concern of Lesley Ann Warren as his wife.
