Exactly like one of those of bad old British 'B' movies of decades ago which always had a visiting American star, this is certainly the estimable Ray Winstone's worst film since Tank Malling. Hugh Grant lookalike Tim Dutton, who lives in palatial splendour with his wealthy wife (Sherilyn Fenn) has a few hours to raise £10million or be offed. But his plans are somewhat stymied when Winstone, a seemingly meek auditor, breaches his stronghold, takes the couple hostage and burbles on at length about his wife, rendered comatose in a car crash. This material can never have been very promising, but the unfortunately named Gerry Lively fails to make it move at all. Tighter editing might have helped the ineptly written and clumsily staged three-hander, but it's doubtful. The actors try but their dramatics are only good for a much-needed giggle. The grimly protracted ending is the last straw.
