Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew was sure never like this at school! Set in Padua, apparently a suburb of Seattle, this sweet high-school romcom clues us in on the stormy romance of handsome teens Katarina Stratford (Julia Stiles) and Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger).

As the feisty Kat, the spitfire no one wants to date but who finally crumbles at the flutter of a handsome eyelash, Stiles is a personable performer, and, in his Hollywood debut, Aussie hunk Ledger is suitably dashing and appealing as the owner of said eyelashes.

The movie mixes wackily funny moments with the usual Prom Night conventions and a few scenes directly from the Bard and turns it all into a lot of good-natured fun.
