This Quebec-set kidnap thriller has a fiendishly complex plot - just what IS everyone up to? - but the treatment of it lacks the flair to turn the yarn into a Hitchcock-style classic. Dabney Coleman (remember him as the ghastly boss in the 1980 comedy Nine to Five? ), though, is his usual abrasive self as the millionaire who befriends his kidnapper after it seems no one wants to pay the ransom. But the best performance comes from little-known Michael Rudder as Coleman's ever-perspiring accountant.
