Running away from her husband and an unhappy marriage, Rose Cleardon (Dana Delany) is two months pregnant and seeks refuge with nuns at St Genevieve's, a home for unmarried mothers.

She falls for the caretaker (Clancy Brown) and eventually marries him, conveniently forgetting her initial wedded state.

But, 15 years later, the truth comes out.

This is a surprisingly touching drama, with strong acting and unpredictable developments - in which life stubbornly refuses to turn out like a fairy tale.

Ellen Burstyn and Sada Thompson give excellent support.
