Clearly fed up with having been falsely accused of crimes all the time as a cop, Burt Reynolds's Logan McQueen now finds himself falsely accused in retirement. 'Sent down', he soon gets chatting with a death row inmate (Bruce Dern) who tells of his nightmares about a car-bomb killer. When McQueen is released, the car-bomb deaths become reality, so he joins up with the police to track down the killer. Routine, but still entertaining stuff in this second of three 'Hard Time' thrillers. Reynolds, passing on the directing reins this time, keeps his wig firmly on his head and his feet upon the ground, giving yet another strong performance.
