Deep Blue Sea The story is simple - a medical research team has been genetically mutating sharks to increase their brain size to produce a protein that will cure Alzheimer's disease.

This genetic tampering not only makes the sharks grow bigger but also makes them brilliantly intelligent. All this is taking place in a research facility at sea but a problem arises when the sharks escape.

The sub-plot starts when the place starts filling up with water and the sharks are stuck on the very bottom level.

To add to the problems, every time a section of the facility fills up with water, the sharks then have a new place to travel.

The fun comes as you try to work out what the sharks are doing and by the time you realize what their game is all about, it's nearly too late.

Renny Harlin's aqua-thriller is fast and furious with superb use of special effects bringing the screen sharks to unprecedented levels of ferocity.

This is one of the first effects-driven movies to effectively meld CGI with modelwork to the best advantage of both.

Deep Blue Sea boasts emerging stars Thomas Jane and Saffron Burrows, with some great comic relief from LL Cool J.

The film combines superb technology, cutting edge visual effects, and thrilling photography to create a pumped up rollercoaster of a film.

This film was absolutely ridiculous!!!!! Fair enough, it wasn't made to be a believable film, but I'm sure they could've done a hell of a lot better with entertainment value. This film relies far too much on shock factor, graphically showing us people being eaten by sharks using exceedingly bad special effects, and isn't a patch on the Jaws films. Normally I'd say that anything with Samuel L Jackson in it is worth a watch, but in this case I think I'll make an acception. Absolute c**p.

A good idea and a good film and it makes sense of why the sharks kill instead of Jaws when there was no reason.
