A fine example of 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it', with Disney unwisely remaking its own Sixties cat comedy. The rather glum Christina Ricci isn't ideal casting in the Hayley Mills role and, although it has the same basic story (kidnappers after a cat, which has a vital message on its collar), this version descends into mindless and meaningless chases. Youngsters will probably enjoy the Nineties take on the tale, but at least the original had something for everyone - and the cat then was a real scene-stealer.
