Juliette Lewis does a sterling job as the mentally handicapped daughter of rich mom Diane Keaton, who tries to over-protect her and is horrified when she decides to start a life of her own and falls for retarded Giovanni Ribisi.

This romantic comedy's phoney optimism comes over as pure Hollywood hokum, but there's no doubting the movie's good heart and the high quality of the performances.

Both Keaton and Lewis are impressive, and while director Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman) can't quite stir it up into the intended crowd-pleaser, he still manages some good sentimental entertainment.
