This rather warm and winning TV movie is effectively the 1998 Nicolas Cage/Meg Ryan romance City of Angels transferred to a rural setting. The gorgeous photography of Austin, Texas and its surrounds by Don Fauntleroy does give a lift to the familiar tale of an angel (Bruce Greenwood, an up-and-coming movie star since his success as John F Kennedy in 2000's Thirteen Days) who normally collects dying souls, but now finds himself forced to live as a human for a month. Of course he meets single-mom rancher Melissa Gilbert, and the only thing that might keep you guessing after that is the ending. Suspend your natural disbelief and you'll find this easy-going afternoon fare.
