In a slightly twisted version of Rocky, two has-been, one-time contenders, played by Antonio Banderas and Woody Harrelson, are offered a prime Las Vegas spot (against each other) to replace a champion and his challenger - one killed in a road accident, the other spaced out on dope. Getting their mutual girlfriend (Lolita Davidovich) to drive them through the desert, they set out for the bright lights. Although the eventual contest (absolutely no prizes for guessing the result) does bring home the raw brutality of the sport, as Banderas and Harrelson smash the daylights out of one another, the 90-minute journey that precedes it is almost unbearable and you sympathise with Lolita when she advises the warring warriors: 'Guys! Cool it! Calm down! ' Performances are perfunctory.
