Tom Green
Born: July 30, 1971
Where: Ontario, Canada
A sublimely gifted humourist or a zero-talented geek who happened to strike lucky. Whatever he's got, Green isn't doing too badly.
A stand-up at the age of 15, he hosted a community college radio show that started out as a rap music program and led to the joke rap trio Organized Rhyme.
The Tom Green show led to the small screen but his reputation was tarnished when he brought out the rotting carcasses of a raccoon and squirrel while appearing as a guest on the Canadian talk show Open Mike.
Diagnosed with testicular cancer, he announced his engagement to Drew Barrymore shortly after an operation to remove the tumour.
In March 2001 the pair eloped to the South Pacific. They later remarried in July in front of family and friends in a ceremony in Malibu, California, but have since separated.
In the midst of this illness-related media saturation, Green promoted Road Trip, in which he played a narrator who keeps a mouse in his mouth.
This auspicious start soon took a downward turn with the 2001 release of Freddy Got Fingered, which - far worse than its lack of taste - was the fact it wasn't funny.
Recently, he appeared in Stealing Harvard with Jason Lee...but his awkward appearance practically killed the movie stone dead.
