Writer-director David Cronenberg's second feature. In a bleak future when all women have died through the overuse of cosmetics, scientists and manufacturers seek to create alternate means of sexual release, many of which have unfortunate side effects. A five-year-old is kidnapped by a paedophile gang and an agent (Ronald Mlodzik) is dispatched to rescue her. There's not much plot to speak of, though, but there are already telling signs of Cronenberg's gruesome visual style.
