You can imagine the film-makers' thoughts: 'We'll get as many stars as possible and cast them against type.' And they did - like Friends' David Schwimmer, playing a gay jilted lover: Giovanni Ribisi (also from Friends) as a psychopath; sweet Anna Paquin from Fly Away Home as his sexy street urchin sister; and all-round nice guy Jeff Daniels as a seedy control freak husband. That's half the fun in this black comedy-drama about entwining lives and the effect of suppressed anger. The story links are a bit contrived, but it's moody and atmospheric and makes intriguing viewing.
