Real-life ex-partners Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck do what they can with the old story about the man who finds himself wooing the widow for whose husband's death he feels responsible.

In this case ad exec Ben, dying to bed a blonde, gives his airline ticket to nice guy Tony Goldwyn, whose plane crashes.

Following a period in alcohol rehab, he summons up the courage to visit the widow and her two sons.

As she's Gwyneth, he naturally falls for her, though he doesn't tell her who he is, and she insists she's divorced - not wanting his pity.

Of course romantic entanglements ensue and Paltrow and Affleck put real passion into their performances.
