You would think that what we don't need is yet another retelling of the Jesse James legend. But Western fans won't be disappointed in this well-cast and well-paced adventure. The story is so familiar, surely, that it doesn't need a synopsis here, but for the record, Jesse and Frank are spurred into action against greedy railroad land-grabbers when their father is killed and start a campaign of train and bank robberies. Were they Robin Hoods or just robbing b*******s? Rob Lowe and Bill Paxton certainly look the parts of Jesse and Frank, and give solid, firm-jawed performances. The action is rough and tough, and director Robert Boris knows how to show it to good advantage. Blazing stuff.
