A surprisingly moving, truth-based account of an attempt to kidnap the American Ambassador in Rio de Janeiro in 1969, by some inexperienced idealistic youths, part of the October Revolutionary Movement, whose aim was to free political prisoners. These terrorists are not callous, battle-hardened men, but total amateurs - one even feeling empathy for his American captive (played by Alan Arkin) - who initially get away with their crime through luck and police incompetence. A solid drama, highlighting a cause and the personal relationships of the individuals, with excellent characterisation by the leads, including Pedro Cardoso and Fernanda Torres.
