Stylish gangster thriller in which an exiled Yakuza heads for LA to seek out his half-brother, and has to use his own Yakuza code of honour in a steely cold tale of drug wars, gang lords and brotherhood. Director-writer-editor-star Takeshi Kitano (Beat Takeshi), in his first venture outside his native Japan, brings his usual blend of violence and humour, with the emphasis very much on violence. Much too long, and only for those with strong stomachs.
