A whimsical but surreal Irish comedy. Browbeaten Hubert (Pete Postlethwaite) comes home one night from the pub and turns into a rat! His wife (Imelda Staunton) turns to her wise brother (Frank Kelly - Father Jack from TV's Father Ted) for advice, meanwhile letting a nosy journalist (David Wilmot) into their home to turn their story into a best-seller... The off-kilter dialogue is beautifully delivered, (for example: 'There's nothing worse than a drowned rat in the toilet, whether he's a close relation or not.' ) creating a bizarre comedy which is at times overdone but frequently hilarious.
