David Spade, once straight man for the late Chris Farley, makes a doomed bid for solo stardom in the title role of this very lame frolic, which comes across as a sort of Homer's Odyssey reworked for simpletons. Only a couple of moments are even worth smiling about, with most of the uninspired slapstick centred on dog mess and food fights. Joe Don Baker, Fred Ward, Rosanna Arquette and Christopher Walken flit in for guest appearances they'd probably rather forget.
