And strange is the word for this film from Jack Starrett, a `fringe' Hollywood director, whose most successful film has probably been Race with the Devil. The only devil here is the talented Bonnie Bedelia as Rosalie, living in a shack in the desert and sitting on a fortune in gold. The moral seems to be: never give lifts to a stranger.
