The pilot for a Seventies TV police series, in which a ruthless killer is targeting Los Angeles's nuns. The film follows the lives of the Mayor's newly formed elite task force of cops, captained by Robert Stack and including a pre-Magnum Tom Selleck. The results are glum and downbeat, and, despite a decent cast, the characters they play like fire, but at least the unusual plot holds water - and the attention. Producer Quinn Martin's subsequent single-season series was only a mild success and ran for 22 episodes.
