The London Bridge here is the one that was transplanted to Arizona in the Seventies, and it seems that an unwelcome lodger went along for the ride - the evil spirit of Jack the Ripper. The notion of a fiend from the past terrorising present-day victims is a staple of the fright-fantasy field. But this grisly addition to the genre, although played commendably straight by a hard working cast, lacks the invention of the similar Time After Time, in which H G Wells pursued Jack the Ripper round contemporary San Francisco.
