This delightful romantic comedy has James Cagney firing on all cylinders as the poor boy who falls for Rita Hayworth, but gets Olivia de Havilland on the rebound and a job offer from the chap who gets Hayworth (Jack Carson). But Cagney ends up in prison after taking the fall for Carson's company's shady dealings. Everyone works hard to good effect in this lively story, but the real revelation was de Havilland, who displayed a previously unsuspected talent for light comedy. Freewheeling fun.
