Actress Eileen Atkins found this a very odd film to make. Director Maurice Hatton would reveal little about his enigmatic script and she was left to make up her own mind, like the audience, about the puzzle it raises. She plays a woman who checks in at a Thames-side hotel with a suitcase full of banknotes. She remembers nothing about her past and there follows a mysterious series of events including a mugging, a burglary and arson. Then total strangers claim to know her... Is she mixed up in some crime, or is it all in her imagination? Miss Atkins is suitably exasperated in the title role. Director of photography Curtis Clark also worked on the equally baffling The Draughtsman's Contract.
