Tough thriller with Anthony Quinn as a gangster resorting to desperate measures to save his sister's lover from the death penalty. The Naked Street is one of the films Anne Bancroft made in the mid-50's, when struggling to establish herself as a dramatic actress following a series of milk-and-water roles at Fox. All of these films take on new significance in the light of Miss Bancroft's subsequent performances in The Miracle Worker (for which she won an Oscar), The Pumpkin Eater and The Graduate.
