A kind of avant-garde film-noir from cult favourite Alan Rudolph, with Geraldine Chaplin perfectly cast as the enigmatic ex-convict clearly determined on vengeance for some past miscarriage of justice. Anthony Perkins proves almost equally well-suited to the role of the man whose life she bedevils, which gives him the opportunity to offer another of his expert studies in personal torment.
