Absorbing thriller, the first of two films (the second, The Priest Killer teamed George Kennedy with Raymond Burr as Chief Robert Ironside) that launched a popular series about a cop-turned-priest. Kennedy is well cast in the title role and there is a part in the supporting cast for Harold Sakata (the deadly Odd-Job from the James Bond adventure Goldfinger) as the priest's cook.
