The Taming of the Shrew

A feisty young woman is wooed by a handsome fortune hunter in 16th century Padua. Elizabeth Taylor's shrew and Richard Burton's tamer are at their iconic best during the extraordinarily funny wedding scene in debutant director Franco Zeffirelli's earthy, robust screen version of the classic Shakespeare comedy. Trivia: Zeffirelli originally proposed this film as a vehicle for Sophia Loren.
