Although it took some time to reach this country, this film is generally considered to be among the best TV movies ever made. It stars Gene Wilder as a television producer and Bob Newhart as a rag trade executive, with Ellen Burstyn and Cloris Leachman as their respective wives. The title refers to the Thursday night poker sessions which break up after everyone agrees to raise the stakes and all except the two central characters have lost hundreds of dollars in one night.
