Fast-moving and fanciful pilot for the successful series, very popular with younger viewers. David Hasselhoff is a rather inexpressive hero - a mild - mannered mixture of The Six Million Dollar Man and RoboCop - but he's here flanked by two experienced scene-stealers, Vince Edwards and Richard Basehart. The picture really belongs to the computerised car, though, a hi-tech, talking beast some way advanced of the Batmobile. Director Dan Haller started out as an art director on Roger Corman's Poe adaptations in the Sixties.
