Geoffrey Unsworth's bleached-out colour photography (he won an Oscar for his very different colour work on Cabaret) heightens the sinister qualities of this claustrophobic ghost story, adapted from a play by Richard Lortz. The then-married team of David Hemmings and Gayle Hunnicutt play in brittle, enigmatic fashion.
