Anthony Hopkins gives a fine, tortured performance as the hideously deformed Quasimodo in a lavishly mounted television film remake of the classic films of Victor Hugo's drama. Producer Norman Rosemont has ensured a glossy look to the British-made drama and the strong casting includes Lesley-Anne Down as the gypsy Esmeralda, and Derek Jacobi, who nearly steals the picture as the arch-deacon of Notre Dame.
