A manitou, should you want to know, is a supernatural being with the power of good or evil, and the name derives from an Algonquin word. The one on display in this zestful slice of horror hokum is decidedly on the evil side, being a 400 year old Indian medicine man who decides to be born again and chooses a strange way to do it - by growing in a lump on Susan Strasberg's neck! Once you swallow this bizarre variation on the usual birds-and-the-bees story, you'll be in for a great deal of fun, decorated with really splendid special effects at the climax and suitably straight-faced acting by a better than average cast who cheerfully enter into the (supernatural) spirit of things. Lively direction by William Girkler adds savour.
