In its time this was something of a prestige picture from 20th Century-Fox, made by the company's top journeyman director, Henry King, who could successfully turn his hand to almost any type of film. A lavish biography of Woodrow Wilson, who became the 28th president of the United States, the picture has an impressive array of principal players; but it's dominated by Alexander Knox who, in the title part, had what was very probably the best starring role of his career, and gave a sterling performance that won him an Oscar nomination.
