Bryan Brown and Judy Davis, two of the most prominent stars of the Australian cinema during the late Seventies and early Eighties, co-star in this rather heartbreaking story of a drug-addicted prostitute who sees (false) hope of reforming her life when she meets a man from her best friend's past. Miss Davis, especially, gives a touching performance as the forlorn little hooker, while Brown's fiercely masculine personality is not quite so well suited to the role, at least as written here, of the former rebel now settled into middle-class respectability.
