A finely-detailed piece of Americana from director John Ford with a sterling performance by Henry Fonda, playing the young Abraham Lincoln as a travelling lawyer of the 1800s.
There's a fine supporting performance by Alice Brady (an appealing leading lady of silent times), who had won an Academy Award the previous year for her moving performance in 'In Old Chicago'.
Unfortunately Young Mr Lincoln was to be her last film, before her early death from cancer.
