A very personal project for star David Carradine, who also directed this simple, rambling, fascinating tale of a man and an obsession. Carradine himself, as the Vietnam veteran looking for a new meaning in life, offers his usual introspective performance, hinting at perhaps horrifying depths beneath a surface calm. Although little appears to be going on in the backwater town adopted by the itinerate Carradine, the sense of imminent menace is unmistakable.
