A film much after the style of Tom Jones, with bags of colour and incident. Kim Novak is the female Tom, chased around every bedchamber in London town. Although Hugh Griffith, memorable in Tom Jones, is here also, this time as a prison governor, the film misses some of the lip-smacking period relish with which the earlier film (and the age) so distinguished itself.
