Writer-director Yannick Bellon uses her story of the brutal rape of a woman by four young men gradually to reveal how an individual crime becomes a social crime and one of concern to all society. She depicts the rapists not as social psychopaths but as normal people, an approach based on the statistical evidence that most rapes are committed by `ordinary' men.
