`Angel City' is the ironic name for the forced-labour camp in Florida where the luckless Ralph Waite and his screen family end up as prisoners, working for starvation wages and oppressed by sadistic overseer Mitchell Ryan. It's a reworking of The Grapes of Wrath, dourly directed by British-born Philip Leacock and well-acted by Waite, Paul Winfield and Jennifer Warren. Ryan pulls out all the stops, making his villain the blackest black.
