Set in the wilds of Arizona, this tough John Sturges adventure yarn about a gunman out to find his father's killer includes good helpings of hard-riding outlaws, Apache raiders, duels to the death and range warfare. A sterling supporting cast includes Barton MacLane who found his 'ugly mug' his fortune as he played the villain in dozens of crime thrillers. The plot is unusually well worked-out for a Western, and contains one or two first-rate surprises in the closing reel. 'If they ever get around to giving Oscars for the busiest Western of the year,' remarked one contemporary critic, 'this one would be a certain winner.'
