Sentimental, beautifully-photographed but dullish love story from American director Delmer Daves, made on location in England and Italy. Red-haired Maureen O'Hara looks as lovely as ever at 45, and there's a precocious performance from 12-year-old Olivia Hussey, later to become the screen's first teenage Juliet. Daves is one of the screen's best-known makers of romantic stories, his work in the genre ranging from Bird of Paradise, through the Clark Gable film Never Let Me Go to the series of Troy Donahue films of the Sixties.
