Director Peter Weir's monstrous fantasy is set not in Paris, France, but Paris, Australia, where the townsfolk lay traps for unwary night-time motorists. The good people of Paris 'treat' the survivors of the resulting crashes and make their living from the pickings from the wrecks. A good idea, uncertainly acted by its Australian cast, but full of inventive touches. Although this is overrated, Weir fans won't want to miss it.
